Privacy Policy
Tuned Voice, Inc. ("Tuned Voice," "we," "us," or "our") provides the Tuned Voice app for Apple platforms. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Tuned Voice is designed around on-device processing. Your speech is transcribed locally on your device and is never sent to our servers. No audio ever leaves your device. In the future, an optional Voice Training feature may allow you to upload recordings to build a personalized speech model — that feature is not available in version 1.0.
1. Information We Collect
On-device information (never sent to us)
The following information is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to Tuned Voice or any third party:
- Voice recordings — stored on-device only, encrypted with AES-256-GCM envelope encryption.
- Transcription output — generated on-device and inserted into the app you are using.
- Custom vocabulary, text replacements, settings, and preferences.
- Vocabulary mining statistics — word-level accuracy statistics derived from dictation sessions, used to improve recognition. Contains individual words, not full transcripts.
- Local diagnostic logs — stored on-device for troubleshooting. Production builds never include transcript text in logs.
License validation
When you activate Tuned Voice with a license key, the app contacts our server to validate the license. The only information transmitted is:
- License key — the key you purchased.
- Hardware identifier — a non-reversible hash of your Mac's hardware, used only to enforce the per-machine license limit. This is not personally identifiable information.
No account creation is required. Your email address is collected only during purchase (see Purchase Information below) and is not transmitted by the app during license validation.
Purchase information
When you purchase a Tuned Voice license through Stripe checkout, we collect and store the following information to deliver your license key, process refunds, and prevent fraud:
- Email address — used to deliver your license key and for refund correspondence.
- Stripe customer ID and checkout session ID — internal identifiers linking your purchase to Stripe’s payment system.
- Payment amount and currency — the amount you paid and the currency used.
- Country code — derived from your billing address for tax and compliance purposes.
This information is stored on our server (hosted on Supabase, US West). It is not combined with any on-device data.
Future: Optional Voice Training
A future version may offer an optional Voice Training feature that lets you upload recordings to build a personalized speech model. If and when this feature is offered, we will update this policy with full details before collecting any data. Voice Training will always be opt-in and will never be required.
Information we do not collect
- No analytics or telemetry of any kind.
- No advertising identifiers.
- No third-party tracking SDKs.
- No cloud transcription — all speech recognition runs on-device.
- No precise location data.
- No name or account registration. Email is collected only at purchase for license delivery.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide on-device speech recognition and app features.
- To save your settings, vocabulary, and app preferences locally on your device.
- To validate your license key.
- To deliver your license key and process purchase transactions.
- To process refunds when requested.
- To respond to support requests.
- To comply with law and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for behavioral advertising. We do not collect analytics or telemetry.
3. How Tuned Voice Processes Voice Data
All speech recognition runs entirely on your device using the Apple Neural Engine. No audio is ever streamed to Tuned Voice servers or any third party. Your voice data stays on your Mac at all times.
4. Storage and Security
Local storage
- Voice recordings stored by the app are encrypted locally using AES-256-GCM envelope encryption.
- Encryption keys are protected through the macOS Keychain.
- You can delete local recordings and all local data through the app settings at any time.
License validation server
- License validation requests use HTTPS with TLS.
- The server stores your license key, hardware identifier hash, and purchase metadata (email, Stripe identifiers, payment amount, currency, and country code). No voice data, transcriptions, or usage data is ever stored on our servers.
- No voice data, transcriptions, or usage data is ever transmitted to or stored on our servers.

5. Third-Party Services
Tuned Voice uses the following third-party services in limited ways:

Other than license validation, the app makes no network requests. Purchasing redirects to Stripe’s checkout page (a standard web transaction). No ad networks, analytics SDKs, or telemetry frameworks are included.
6. Biometric Data and Illinois BIPA
Voice recordings may be considered biometric information or biometric identifiers under some laws, including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act ("BIPA"). In version 1.0, all voice recordings remain on your device — they are never transmitted to Tuned Voice or any third party. Where BIPA or similar laws apply:
- Voice recordings are used solely for on-device speech recognition and are never uploaded.
- We do not collect, receive, possess, or store biometric data on our servers.
- We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric data.
- Retention of on-device recordings is controlled entirely by you through the app settings.

7. GDPR and International Users
If you are in the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Tuned Voice, Inc. is the controller for personal data covered by this policy. In practice, Tuned Voice v1.0 collects minimal personal data: a license key, hardware hash, email address, payment amount, currency, and country code.
- Legal bases: We process data to perform the contract (license validation) and pursue legitimate interests (security). No consent is required because we do not collect voice data server-side in v1.0.
- Your rights: You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability where applicable.
- International transfers: License validation data is processed in the United States via Supabase (US West). We use appropriate transfer measures as required by applicable law.
- Complaints: You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of all server-side purchase data (email, Stripe identifiers, payment amount, currency, country code) by emailing privacy@tunedvoice.com. Requests are processed within 30 days. Note that deletion may prevent future refund processing or license verification. Purchase data is automatically purged 2 years after purchase.

8. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know, access, delete, and correct certain personal information, and to limit the use of certain sensitive personal information where applicable.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

9. Children's Privacy
Tuned Voice is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact privacy@tunedvoice.com so we can investigate and, if appropriate, delete the information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy here and revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Tuned Voice after an update means the updated policy applies going forward.
